I’m Back! For Real (I Think)

Hello everyone! Welcome back to The Minty Pink. It’s been a rough, weird, and exhausting year. I’ve been thinking about the blog a lot lately, and how much I really miss writing. It was such a great outlet for me, but, as I said in my last post, I was feeling much too sad to write about things that didn’t feel super “important”…like clothes. I realize now that clothes are an expressive outlet, and not everything has to feel like the most important thing to write about, but at the time it really was feeling too hard to do so. I have been actively trying to do fun things this past year…although, lately, Omnicron seriously seems to have other plans for everyone. I still have been lucky enough to not catch covid, and am obviously both double vaccinated and boosted, but I know how contagious this new variant is, so we are continuing to be cautious. Like many, we are trying to balance living our lives while also not putting others into dangerous situations. I think, truthfully, it’s ultimately been a generally troubling time for everyone, as we are continuing to share this pandemic experience.

Although, I think blogging in general has actually adapted and changed a lot since I was last writing regularly, which is almost a full year ago now. Or, at least, what I look forward to reading in a blog has changed. I generally love hearing more stories and personal experiences rather than necessarily watching full closet hauls or massive gift guides. Don’t get me wrong – I’m the biggest window shopper you’ll ever meet. I drop names of brands my friends have never heard of like it’s my job. But those types of posts were starting to not make me feel great. Maybe it’s because I was going through it on my own end, but I became irritated and all around felt down when scrolling through my feed. However, I’m hoping to find my own joy in it all again.

There have been (a lot) good things, too! The biggest happy update is that our puppy, Murray, came into our lives this year (you can follow him here on instagramwho knew I’d love running a dog account so much?) and he has brought us so. much. joy. We can no longer even imagine our lives without him. He’s so loving, hesitant, and sweet. Truly the biggest scaredy cat I’ve ever met, and very much misses us when we leave the apartment (as evidenced by our new furbo!) He truly completes our little family and we feel so grateful to have him. <3 He’s a red cockapoo and is now 10 months old. Just a true bundle of fun!

We also were lucky enough to have a lot of fun moments this year. Some highlights were: We got to visit Caley and Cian in Colorado in July, and had a fun weekend in Maine with Pj. We went skiing with Alex and Gabby! We threw a surprise birthday party for Jake with our friends, which went so smoothly and made him so happy. I also got a new Subaru, which was super exciting. I dressed as Kit Kitteredge for Halloween, which I’ve basically been planning in my mind for like, ever. I (finally) won Homecoming Queen at our annual homecoming party after a decade of trying to get my own friends to vote for me and break the inside joke of me always losing, which was both amazing and hilarious.  In general, we were able to spend so much more time with friends and family than we did in 2020, which is always a blessing.

Truthfully, this post is all over the place, and definitely a strange “Hello, I’m back!!” announcement. I just felt like it needed to be done to get myself up and running again. Hopefully I can commit to more posts…I have a lot of ideas and I’d love to be part of it all again. One foot in front of the other, right?

Thanks for listening!
