The Golden Birthday

For those of you who don’t know what a Golden Birthday is, you should go ahead and figure out if you still have time to plan one for yourself…and incase you’re wondering whether or not it is a real thing, it totally is! Check out Dictionary.com’s definition below:

golden birthday. noun. a person’s birthday when they turn the age of their birth date

So, for example, my birthday is October 16th, so my 16th birthday would have been my Golden Birthday. My 16th birthday was pretttttty amazing, so I’d have to say I’m okay with that, even though I missed the memo to make it golden themed. (Jake’s was his tenth birthday…hopefully it was a good one because it is wayyyy too late!)

My friend Pj was born on March 27th, and he turned 27 this year. For at least a decade, he has been telling us that, when he turned 27, he planned on throwing the ultimate golden birthday. I’m not joking when I say I’ve heard about this “Golden Birthday Plan” since I was at least 14 years old, and I still can’t believe it actually happened. Let me tell you, it was fabulous.

As far as outfit planning goes, I wanted to go all out. Thank god for Marshall’s you guys, because they had so much gold at such an affordable price. Marshall’s is always a go-to! When it comes to grabbing a new Ralph Lauren T-shirt, testing out a new hair product, or even grabbing goodies for my sister’s bachelorette weekend, it’s always my first choice. So, naturally, when it came to finding gold, this time was no exception: Marshall’s would be my best bet for tons of gold at an affordable price. Luckily for me, I found this Blank NYC gold jacket and these matching Restricted gold loafers.

My necklace was an old J. Crew one I’ve worn a bunch of times, and then I topped it off with my fossil gold watch. I also decided to paint my nail a gold color I bought way back when J. Crew collaborated with Ten Over Ten nailpolish. Oh, and thank goodness my Ray Ban’s have gold in them, because my glasses matched perfectly! 🙂

Jake was more low-key, but in the best way. He wore gold-glittered suspenders and a bowtie with a casual white button down and dark pants. He bought them from the Etsy Shop crystalAmour, which worked out perfectly.

Of course, Pj went all out. He walked down his stairway in an elaborate gold cape, gold eyelashes, and gold sequined eyebrows. He was covered in glitter and, of course, stole the show!

Everyone took photos at the gold themed photo booth above, and there were seemingly endless bottles of champagne with gold confetti everywhere. Honestly, after a while, I forgot to take pictures because I was just having so much fun! Jake and I wanted to give Pj  a gift that fit the theme, so we gave him this gold S’well water bottle (I use mine EVERYDAY, it’s amazing) along with a gold visa gift card for something he can choose for himself.

Pj is one of my best friends, and is just so loyal and supportive. I’m so happy he had the birthday he has always wanted, and I can’t wait for all the memories we keep making for years to come. <333

This group it my go-to, and has been there through allllllll the highs and lows. So thankful that we still are always there for each other <3
