Life with Contacts

So, I ended up doing it. I was so back and forth about it, but I ended up going with getting contacts. I have only worn them a week, and so far…well, I have a lot of thoughts. First of all: I really do like them. I do! But, I haven’t decided yet if it’s something I want to wear everyday. My glasses were driving me bonkers. I got glasses just a little over a year ago – I was getting the most terrible headaches, and was so happy when I finally had something tangible to attribute it to.

Turtle neck is the L.L. Bean one I can’t stop wearing and the denim jacket is J.Crew and, sadly, sold out. However, I did find a NWT version listed on Poshmark…Lipstick is Marc Jacobs “Plum n’ Get it”

My prescription is really light, and I really only have one *bad eye*, so I always feel like I can see, even without my glasses on. However, once they are off for a couple hours, I immediately go right back to the headaches. To be honest, I really do like how I look in them – the glasses that is. But, I found it really frustrating when makeup would get on my lenses or I had to wear them to a fancier event.

I have only had my contacts a week. At the moment, the challenge is putting them in on the first try a bit more consistently. I keep forgetting to do them before I put my makeup on, and then I end up getting mascara on them, which makes me have to throw the contact out as they are the “daily” type. I’m using the brand Acuvue – my doctor says she uses them herself and, although challenging to put in at first, she finds them the most comfortable. She’s right – I  really am liking that the contacts are, for the most part, comfortable. However, I’m struggling with mild headaches while dealing with the new prescription and the lens being so much closer to my eye. They’re not nearly as bad as they were a year ago though….

I really like feeling like I just have my face without the glasses on whenever I want. However, knowing me, I’ll probably be basing it around my outfit. “Does this look better with or without glasses?” will probably end up being my daily thought process. Hopefully, I still look okay without them! 😉 I’ve also been dealing with some skin sensitivity issues, so that definitely has me over thinking it a bit. In contrast, it’s just really refreshing to be able to not have anything in front of my face…!

Do any of you have contacts? What brand do you use?
