Mean Girls: The Ultimate Nostalgia

Despite my history in the arts, I don’t see Broadway shows very often. I saw Hamilton with Jake’s family, and considered is life changing-ly incredible. Then, for my birthday, Pj got me tickets to Anastasia: The Musical – but this was based on my love of the history behind the Romanov family, rather than necessarily it being a musical. However, again, it was incredible. I love how they took a fictional story but also incorporated actual facts about the monarchy and their family history. Overall, I loved loved loved it.

My outfit: I was wearing this pink J.Crew sweater (for Mean Girls, obviously!) with my Gap Jeans. Booties are my favorite brown leather pair by Madewell paired with my new Bombas socks in black. Coat is old J.Crew – here is their newer version of the tweed coat! I love all the pebbled colors in it. Kate Spade bag is also old, but this one closely resembles it! Jake’s outfit: Coat is L.L. Bean, the pants are J.Crew, and white sneaks are Allbirds

But this weekend, I went and saw Mean Girls The Musical with our close friends, and I had so much fun. First of all, this musical is just that: fun. It’s the perfect show where you just laugh throughout the whole thing – plus, the nostalgia of the movie makes it even better. They incorporate some of the best lines from the movie while also changing the plot just a smidge, keeping you interested. I hadn’t listened to the music before the show and I’m so glad I didn’t – I thought the actress and actor playing Janice and Damien were particularly talented. Plus, the character of Karen could possibly be even funnier than the character in the movie – I was seriously laughing throughout the whole thing!

Before the show, we took time to walk around Hudson Yards and ate at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen, Tacuba. It was delicious and the perfect location for walking straight to the show. I also hadn’t seen the vessel before, so I really enjoyed getting a glimpse of it after hearing about it all this time. After the show, we walked over to Schmackary’s for cookies with was, obviously, divine. I got the classic chocolate chip and the chocolate duet!

It was also so nice having Pj stay with us for the weekend. We had the best time walking around showing him some more of our neighborhood now that we’ve lived here longer! We ate lots of food and laughed a ton.

I had the perfect weekend! What did you do with your friends this weekend?
