The Unusual De-stressor

I didn’t write much on the blog last week because I was feeling a lot stress. It was a compilation of feeling sick all week and I felt there was a lot of pressure on me to get everything I needed done. Work was stressing me out, and I couldn’t shake the sense of feeling completely overwhelmed. I seriously had this consistent anxiety and, even when I was trying to relax, I just could not.

But then, on Friday night, I went to go see the Talent Show for the kids I work with, and I can honestly say I am so impressed. I feel really proud of each of them, and going was only further confirmation that I am looking forward to having my own classroom and group of students. It was so nice to walk into the building and have a group of them run up to me! <3 In the least cheesy way possible, I feel like it really lifted my spirits and made me feel like I was on the right path. I was able to breathe and think “Okay, I got this. I’m so happy to be here to see them.” I felt true overwhelming pride for each of them.

Of course, we also had Mother’s Day on Sunday, which was lovely! I have to say, I couldn’t be more grateful for my own Mom. She is seriously the best Mom in the whole world, and I’m so grateful I can go to her with absolutely anything. I’m so thankful for our nights in front of the TV eating Chinese food and watching The Crown on Netflix – I don’t know if I could get through this phase of my life without her and those nights! My Grammy also came over, and she is literally the best grandparent in the whole world. It was so nice to watch the two of them open presents, and for all of us to eat together. We always laugh so much, and I genuinely just have the best family. Spending that time with them also definitely helped ease my anxiety from the week.

Jake and I also went for a long walk Saturday morning, which is always a relaxing time for me that also gets me moving! Plus, coffee from Dunkin’ always helps. 😉

ALSO: I know summer is here, and the time for sweaters is behind us, but I can’t get enough of this pink mock neck sweater from J.Crew. It would look perfect with a pair of shorts on the beach, but unfortunately it was much too chilly for that this past weekend. I’ll probably bring this with me when Jake and I go to Rhode Island in a couple weeks, as something cozy to wear on those cooler nights by the water. I paired it with my Portuguese Toino Abel bag, my adidas (look a likes here), and (of course) the J. Crew Factory jeans you all keep seeing me wear.

What helps you to de-stress?
