A New Haircut

You guys – I cut my hair!!!! Finally!!!! Honestly, I was in such a bad place with my hair. I was absolutely hating it lately – it didn’t feel soft anymore, no matter what hair mask I used in it or what shampoo I was buying, and it felt like a daily struggle to get it to “look right.” I was going insane, and complaining for weeks that I needed a hair dresser in the area. Finally, I remembered that I had met Julia, the blogger of Lemon Stripes, at a J.Crew event once. She had lived in Stamford up until a week or two ago, and I thought I might reach out and see what she thought.

She immediately recommend Salon Shahin without hesitation, and told me she trusted Lindsay above anyone else with her hair. I made an appointment that day, and was relieved when I found out Lindsay would be available later that week. It just so happens that, the day I went for the appointment, I had the worst day. I had spilled coffee all over my favorite L.L. Bean tote (don’t worry, I saved it!!!) and had struggled throughout the day with similar issues. I was feeling down and just, overall, not great.

T h e n, I got the salon. They immediately got me a robe and offered me a cappuccino, which I happily accepted. Lindsay was lovely from the get-go, and was honest with me about what she thought I should do with my hair. The overall experience was both relaxing and, honestly, fun. She was so great to chat with, and she even taught me how to curl my hair while I was there (since I still don’t really know how to do it that well…) At the end of it all, she helped me find the best shampoo/conditioner set for my hair after I told her what was bothering me about the overall feel of it, and I already love using it. It feels so much lighter on my hair! She even told me I should go grab dinner with my boyfriend with my new hair cut, since I didn’t really have any plans, and as soon as I left I called Jake and we got dinner at a local restaurant, Bedford Hall. It was wonderful and took such a load off after such a “bleh” day.

Basically, I had the best time. I honestly am thrilled with the hair cut, but I am even happier that I found a salon within my new community. It makes me feel more apart of it all and I couldn’t be happier!

Have you had a similar experience finding a new salon?
