Allbirds: A Newfound Love

I recently got a pair of Allbirds for Christmas from my sister Katie – first off, I’ve wanted a pair for a while. Both my Mom and Jake have a pair (and now Jake has a second pair…) and they both always rave that it’s the best sneaker they’ve ever worn. Since Christmas, Jake and I have been going for long walks each day, and I now don’t ever want to wear anything but my Allbirds for our longer walks. They are unbelievably comfy and different from any other sneaker I’ve ever worn. Here’s why:

They’re incredibly cloud like when it comes to the bottom of your foot. Cushy, but not so soft that they don’t feel sneaker like. I’m a huge shoe person, and love many sneakers in my closet, but Allbirds by far win the award for most comfortable. I’m looking forward to wearing them to work just based off of how frequently I’m walking and moving around. Personally, I’m a fan of the tree runners version over the wool version simply based on design. The tree runners look like more of a typical sneaker material to me than the wool pair. Originally, my Mom had the wool, and I felt you could see more of the outline of your toes while wearing the sneaker compared to the tree runner, which she ultimately exchanged them for.

Coat is J.Crew – I’ve had mine two years and absolutely adore it. (You can see me wearing it here back in 2017…) Sadly, they don’t carry this color anymore, but they have a ton of beautiful choices! Obviously, sneakers are my tree runner Allbirds.

Additionally, for lack of better phrasing, I find the tree runners to be incredibly breathable compared to other sneakers I regularly wear. They don’t feel overly stuffy or tight and, added plus, the material is environmentally friendly. All of their laces are made from recycled plastic, which is just awesome. I started off wearing the sneakers with my bombas ankle socks, but now I’m opting for no-show socks. Some people even wear them without socks at all, which you can actually do with these sneaks considering the comfort on the inside! They even recommend doing it on their site. However, I prefer to wear socks, just because I feel kinda funny wearing sneakers in general without them.

The best part? They are machine washable. I can wear my white allbirds without fear of ruining them because I know I can always throw them in the washing machine! Easy peasy. Jake did it after wearing them all last summer, and they looked great after one wash! I find they’re also super true to size – I have a 7, and am almost always a 7, and they fit perfectly.
