Anticipation of New Taylor

First off, I spent the weekend with my best friend Pj in one of our favorite places (Maine!!) – It was an absolute joy and incredibly relaxing to spend our days sitting on the beach: chatting favorite music and planning the release of TS’s new album. If you read the blog: You know I’m a Swiftie. It’s a fact. Plus, Pj is like, my Taylor Swift bff. (Remember the ornament I got him last Christmas….?) I’ve been anticipating the release of the album “Lover” basically since I walked out of the Reputation tour. Honestly, I’ve already made the decision that I’m investing in two concerts for the “Lover” tour. She’s an artist that I’ve loved since I was about 11 years old, and the concerts are such a blast. It’ll be so worth it to see it twice! (If you haven’t read the letter I wrote her after the last tour, you can find it here…)

If you’re not a TS fan (omg, why…?) one thing you need to understand about Taylor is that she’s always interacting with her fans. Although I’ve never personally experienced it, it’s always fun to see on social media what she hides as clues leading up to an album release. (Always big clues lurking on Tumblr when it comes to TS…!) It’s not just online: One Christmas, a few years ago during the 1989 era, she was sending people presents and hand written notes…she always adds a personal touch to these things, and has proven her generosity as an artist time and time again.

Side note: I was also honestly pretty thrilled when she did her most recent Instagram livestream because I found out she too has piles of journals filled from when she was a child to adulthood. That’s me (no pun intended lol) in a nutshell. I’ve been journaling since I was in elementary school, and I have literally an entire ottoman filled at the bottom of my bed back at my parents house. I thought that type of crossover with my childhood role model was, honestly, really cool.

More recently, I really love how Taylor has taken serious political action. Prior to this, I always felt that Taylor was socially responsible, but she has only proven herself and her beliefs on a whole new level. She’s also such a role model for women of all ages: I mean, think of how she stood up for herself during her sexual assault trial. She clearly didn’t do it for money (I think she received $1?) She did it for herself and to show others it’s important to stand up for yourself and fight for what’s right – even when it feels really really really really hard to do that.

SO, seriousness being thrown completely aside, I thought it would be a great time to share with you my initial thoughts for the “Lover” release night:

First off: Cookies. I posted on my story earlier today, but I plan on baking Lover themed sugar cookies. I got a rainbow, a heart with an arrow through it (Archer vibes!) and a butterfly. My friends and I are going to decorate them together…we are all literally in our 20’s, but decorating cookies is so much fun at any age, right?

One thing I loved that we did with Reputation, that we are obviously repeating for Lover, is that we all listened to the album for the first time together all the way through as soon as it was released. It’s really cool to experience it with a group who loves the artist as much as you do, and made for some great discussions after we finished listening.

I’m also playing with the idea of possibly setting up a friendship bracelet station? Based on her most recent instagram post, I feel like this might be on brand? lol is this too much??

Are you having a Taylor Swift “Lover” album release party?? What will you be doing with your friends to celebrate the new album??
