Best Stocking Stuffers

If you’ve been reading the blog a while, you know how big a fan I am of stockings. I find that, like all traditions, everyone does it a little bit differently. I personally love putting small sized gifts in stockings, mixed in maybe with favorites candies and soaps. It’s the first part of Christmas morning and, therefore, is part of what kicks off the magic and excitement of the day. Obviously some of these are very “gift like” – but I think it’s nice to have a gift item in a stocking surrounded by the “smaller items.” For small items, it’s fun to throw in hair ties, body wash, pens – even a tooth brush and toothpaste can be fun to find! Stockings are a great place for “useful items” along with a couple fun surprises…I decided to put together some of my top stocking stuffer surprises for this holiday season!

Rug is Rifle paper Co and Couch is Pottery Barn

In our home, it’s a Murdock tradition to have a lovely loofah at the foot of every stocking. Some people don’t use them, but I love a brand new loofah, and I think it’s such a fun item to add to anyone’s stocking. There’s so many colors to choose from, and they get so sudsy!

This is my favorite winter hat of all time – it’s always fun to get a new winter hat for the season, especially one with a pom-pom on top! This hat stays on so well, no blowing away or getting droopy as the day goes on. I have it in orange because, growing up, my Dad has always worn a bright orange beanie and I honestly wanted to get one to match in my own style. However, the harvest red is lovely and perfect for the Christmas season. If you’re looking for something more neutral, they also have it in grey, white and black. Plus, it’s on super sale!

Christmas morning is all about feeling as cozy as possible. Getting cozy items only adds to the overall tone of the morning! I love finding a pair of fuzzy socks in my stocking – getting a “fresh” pair of fuzzy socks is, honestly, one of the best things! A festive pair like this is even better…

If you know anyone who already owns a pair of AirPods, I’m in love with the cases from Rifle Paper Co. Cases for AirPods are not only useful, but becoming really popular! Is it bad that the case itself is making me want to buy the AirPods…? This is such a fun surprise to find in a stocking!

I’ve been a big fan of the scrunch trend since it started up again, but adding bows to them made me a devoted fan. This stewart tartan pattern is adorable and perfect for the holiday. I would literally put this in my hair for Christmas day if I found this on the bottom of my stocking!

We all know I’m a pajama set fan, but I think finding an eye mask as pretty as this in my stocking would be such a fun thing to add to my pajama set collection. Some people use them regularly and they’re honestly great for travel when you want a little shut eye on the plane. Might as well have a cute one, right?

I’m a huge fan of S’well! My friend Meg got me my first one about five years ago, and I’ve been using them ever since. The small 9 oz one is perfect to throw in your bag when you’re going out so it doesn’t feel like you have a giant water bottle with you. There are so many different colors and patterns – I’m a fan of this Rowboat Red when it comes to a festive stocking item, but I also personally love the light pink for every day use!

I’m sure this seems redundant because I already put a pair of fuzzy socks on this list, but hear me out. J.Crew trouser socks are what I almost exclusively wear all winter long. I wear them with my booties, my bean boots, around the apartment – you name it. They’re comfy and cool, and come in so many colors and patterns. Plus, they’re on sale all the time! This fair isle pair is perfect for a stocking!

If there’s a time to jump on the knotted headband trend, it’s now! These are probably going to be a top stocking stuffer this season – they come in such a wide range of prices (I literally saw one for fifty dollars…) and, honestly, don’t overspend on them. The trend won’t last forever – but right now, they’re wicked cute and velvet is perfect this time of year. I recommend this one on Amazon (five star reviews!) and I love the “blackish green.”  Plus, they’re only $8.99!

I’ve become a big fan of Living Proof (their hair masks are great!) and this is such a great way to introduce someone to the brand or give them some travel size versions of their favorite shampoo and conditioner set. This particular set is perfect because it’s made for all hair types, but Sephora also carries more hair specific sets at a similar price!

If you know someone who loves the Flowerbomb scent as much as I do, this stocking stuffer is such a fabulous way to get it for them without breaking the bank. It’s one of those scents that, if you know it, you always are able to recognize it! It’s floral without being too much, and such a fun stocking surprise!!

Baggu’s are great because 1) Awesome for the environment because you’re using a reusable bag 2) they fold perfectly into a neat little square, so they’re super easy to keep right in your purse or car! Plus, at least in Connecticut, you now need to pay if you want to have a plastic/paper bag in store, so more people are looking for cute reusable bag. It’s both a stylish and useful stocking stuffer item!

I gotta be honest, I love my Yeti. I use it all the time – it’s perfect. It keeps my coffee and tea perfectly hot, and I love the navy. Honestly, I couldn’t recommend more – it’s a great gift and, hey, it fits in a stocking! You can also get different lids for it, depending on what you like!

love finding pens in my stocking, and these are my favorite ones of all time! They are perfect for writing letters – it’s probably the teacher in me, but I’m such a stationery person. These don’t bleed through at all and come in so many colors! If you’re looking for a smaller item, this is the perfect one!

A festive passport holder and luggage tag is the perfect stocking stuffer for the frequent traveler in your life! This one from Nordstrom comes in four different colors. I love that the two of them come together rather than purchasing separately. Plus, the little airplane in the corner of the passport holder is such a nice touch!
