Hobbies I’m Working On

Alright. Yesterday I wrote about the pandemic (again) and yes, perhaps this is also pandemic related. But, I want try my best to focus on things that bring joy. I’m going to take the opportunity of staying home, particularly on the weekends, to work on hobbies that I’ve wanted to try or have neglected.

The first? Doodling. I want to draw more for the blog. I’m not an artist and I’ll never claim to be. But I really enjoy using the pencil on my iPad and drawing something small. It’s mindless and not stressful, similar to the feeling of coloring. Although it’s not something I spend a ton of time doing, I think this is a good opportunity to take some time and work on some doodles I might want to use in blog posts down the road. Or, maybe just as a relaxing task? Maybe I’ll try not turn it into something productive. 😉

Shirt is Gap – and an all time favorite!

Next, and probably the biggest project I’m taking on, is needlepoint. This is something I’ve been eyeing for at least a year. It’s exactly the kind of creative task that I think will be good for me – not absurdly hard, but enough of a challenge simply because it’ll be a bit of a learning curve. However, I know the result I’m working towards will ultimately end up being something I love, so I think it might be a fun thing for me to work on. I feel like I’m at the age where it’s good to start a hobby like this – who knows, maybe I’ll even get good at it and keep it up down the road. I’m a huge Christmas person, so I’d love to eventually learn how to make needlepoint ornaments!

I’d also love to learn how to make homemade pasta and breads. Jake is really the cook of our apartment, but I think this would be such a fun thing to do on a weekend. It would have a rewarding pay off because, obviously, I love to eat bread and pasta. I such a huge fan of watching the Great British Baking Show, and I’ve always said that baking bread is something I want to learn to do. I just hardly ever have felt like I had the time to put into it. I’m still really busy during the week, but I honestly think that would be something fun to do on a weekend afternoon in the upcoming weeks.

Lastly, I started the year with so many ideas for The Minty Pink in 2020. Although not all of them are doable during this time, I would love to continue working on them so I’m more than ready for them when this is all behind us. 🙂

I’m going to try to use the blog to keep myself “accountable” for actually doing some of these for myself. Posts coming soon with updates on how it goes!

What hobbies are you working on during this time alone?
