My First Weekend in the Cape

Believe it or not, I’m a wicked New England girl who had never been to the Cape before – until last weekend! My friend Alex’s family has an absolutely beautiful home there with an acre of land. The property was truly stunning, and I had such a blast during my weekend away with some of my favorite people.

Sweater is Old Navy – super affordable, comfortable and cute. I’m wearing a medium for reference! My loafers are the Sperry Seaport Penny Loafer – these I’m obsessed with. The most comfortable loafer I have ever worn and they wear so well. I wear these so regularly!  Jeans are old Madewell, but they are the straight leg!

The first night, we all got there pretty late, and ordered Chinese food just before the restaurant closed. We all sat around the large table catching up when, all of the sudden, all the lights went out. I had just been joking about there being a murderer next door (a total joke – I just was kidding about how isolated we were!) and I flippeddddd when the lights unexpectedly went out. The entire house lost power. It wasn’t storming or anything, so it was a bit of a shock. We all screamed (mainly Kristina and I) and it turned out that there was a transformer that blew up, so we would be in the dark for a while. Personally, I think Pj was thrilled that the power went out because it made the night a bit more exciting. To be honest, it ended up making the night a lot more fun. We had candles, and were laughing a ton. It was such a special, hilarious, memory with my friends.

The second day, we started our morning at this cute little bakery called Cottage Street Bakery. Alex bought everyone a bunch of pastries, and kept raving about this muffin called “The Dirt Bomb.” I honestly didn’t even think I would like it because I am so picky about pastries, but this muffin has to literally be one of the best muffins I’ve ever had. It’s like a coffee cake muffin absolutely covered in the perfect amount of sugar. So good!

We drove to Provincetown, which was just so cool. It was awesome to be in such a beachy place that was so liberal and trendy. I, personally, just really enjoyed walking around and checking out the stores. We bought homemade chocolate and peanut butter fudge and explored the dock. When we got back to Alex’s house, we decided to walk along Rock Harbor beach at sundown. At the end of the night, we actually had ice cream at The Ice Cream Cafe and they had ICE CREAM WITH THE DIRT BOMB MUFFIN IN IT FROM THE BAKERY. I, sadly, did not make this choice. I was torn because they had no mint (I know.) and I settled for Black Raspberry. This was, obviously, still delicious, but Alex got this Dirt Bomb Muffin Ice cream and I had so much food envy.

When walking on Rock Harbor, I wore the best L.L. Bean Sweatshirt I’ve ever owned. It has the perfect weight to it, and it great over sweaters or a T-shirt. I love how lightweight it is! Absolutely perfect for fall in the Cape!

The night ended with games like “Werewolf” and “Cranium” because we’re awesome adults. I love these weekend trips with my friends, and I seriously cannot wait for the next time!
