A Perfect October Weekend

This past weekend, Jake and I went to Rhode Island to celebrate my 25th birthday! We ended up at the house we always spend Memorial Day in, and I couldn’t have been happier with how the entire weekend went. It was relaxing, and fun, and made me feel pretty good about being 25. Prior to my actual birthday this past week, I felt a little weird about hitting that solid middle ground of my 20’s. I feel like 25 is always an age you picture when you’re younger (just me?) so the lead up to this birthday felt a little odder than usual. Basically: this weekend made it all feel great, and made me feel excited about the future too. Age is just a number, right??

Boots are Madewell, and were a birthday gift from my parents! I so badly needed a new pair of brown booties, and I am head over heels for these. Sweater is L.L. Bean and my new favorite turtle neck! My jeans are Gap, and purse is old Kate Spade. However, this one is super similar!

The weekend was, obviously, super food oriented. I love trying good local food when I’m traveling, I think it adds the overall experience of where you are. Each morning, we got coffee at our favorite local Rhode Island coffee spot – Dave’s Coffee. I know I have mentioned them over and over on the blog, but this time we finally purchased some mugs for our apartment from the shop! (This one!) 🙂 We ate dinner at my favorite restaurant in Westerly, Bridge Restaurant. We go there every time we stay in the area, and I literally order the Chicken Pot Pie every single time. It’s unbelievably delicious and I always eat the entire thing. For lunch, we discovered the best sandwich place ever in Wakefield, Cowabunga. I ordered the “beach bum” sandwich, which was d i v i n e. I ordered it without the bacon, but I’m sure if you like bacon it’s great that way too. Jake loved his as well, and we plan on going back the next time we are there. We also, obviously, got a mid day ice cream at Brickley’s. Photo of Jake for proof below! 😉

Sunday, we spent some time on the beach. I honestly love the beach in the fall. There’s hardly anyone there, and I feel like I can actually just take in the experience and be a bit more present with the ocean. As an added plus, there was a local stable riding and training their horses on the beach that day! They were beautiful and fascinating to watch – really added to the whole day! Jake was taking a video while we were watching and chatting about the horses, so he made a lovely GIF to add to the blog! <3

On the way home, we had lunch in Stonington at another delicious sandwich place, Indulge. I also literally had the best sugar-y coffee ever there – a mocha caramel latte. It was a delicious desert kind of coffee, which I usually don’t order too often, but I enjoyed every sip. It was the perfect way to end our weekend getaway! It honestly confirmed that we would love to possibly own our own little place there in the future. Maybe someday! 😉

The whole trip was full of laughs and fun, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate. In the past, I pictured a big party, but this was so much better.Â
