Halloween 2019

It’s funny – Halloween isn’t regarded in my mind as one of my favorite holidays. I definitely enjoy it and I loveeee the costume part! But, I just love other holidays (Christmas) so much more, that I feel like Halloween gets swept under the rug pretty often. This year, there were no real plans. I was invited to a Halloween party (Hi, Kelly!) but it was in Brooklyn on a work night, so it just didn’t end up being in the cards. So I thought this year I would take some time to reflect on the last few costumes where we definitely rocked it. Jake and I typically go for a couples costume, and we always name quite a few of them throughout the year leading up to Halloween. This year, we opted for an old couple using a webcam, and I think it (weirdly) came out pretty great. 😉 Definitely check out the video on my Instagram post of us “using the webcam” – we were cracking ourselves up!

Keep scrolling to see what other costumes we’ve rocked throughout the years – including an infamous (in my mind…) tweet and a throwback to preschool!

Last year, we were Harry Potter themed. Jake was, naturally, Harry Potter. I was, obviously, a Hufflepuff. Again, we didn’t wear this to a party, but I so badly wanted to put this costume together and waited until it was just dark enough outside to get the look I wanted. Turns out, J.K Rowling thought it was pretty good too, because she ended up liking the tweet where I posted the photos of us. When I saw it the next morning, I literally threw my phone to the ground and then picked it up to call Jake at 6:00 AM. It was a pretty phenomenal moment – I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, so I was literally stunned.

The year before that we were Calvin and Hobbes – I loved this costume. It was so easy and we had a blast. Jake still wears this shirt once in a while – it’s actually a J.Crew tee! Jake grew up reading the Calvin and Hobbes comics on repeat, so we felt like this was honestly ideal for us. We had talked about doing it for a couple of years! Totally recommend this one – it was super easy to do last minute and everyone knew who we were!

This was before just before the election (oof) and I literally wore my J.Crew blazer and work pants on Halloween night for this look. We, obviously, dressed up as Hillary and Bill Clinton and ended up getting $3.00 burritos at Chipotle that night with our friends. All in all, a great night. Naturally, I had to recreate the iconic Blackberry photo – luckily my Mom still had her old one!

Lastly, senior year of college Jake and I recreated the only photo (that we know of…) that was taken of the two of us in preschool together. What’s funny is we didn’t even know this photo existed until my Mom found it in a photo album a few years into the two of us dating – so happy we have it and we had so much fun recreating it! <3

What were you for Halloween this year?
