Poshmark Money Making Strategies

Okay, by now, most of you know that I’m a Poshmark Ambassador. It wasn’t even something I did through my blog, but rather something I became interested in when I realized I had an embarrassingly large amount of clothes that needed to be weeded through. Poshmark became a great tool for me – I was able to make my money back and I felt like I was contributing to the eco-friendly fashion world. I’ve bought a few items through the app as well and I’ve never regretted it!

I thought I would help you guys out and give you my tips on selling, and purchasing through the app!

Selling:

When I sell on Poshmark, I make sure that I only sell clothes that are something that *should *be sold. No stains, gently worn, and name brand. These are the items that buyers typically want when they’re searching through the app, and they want it at a reasonable price. However, the “offer” button is the name of the game when it comes to Poshmark. Most of the time, no one is going to be buying your item for what you actually list it for. So, my first piece of advice? List higher than you plan on selling for. That way, you’ll generally earn the amount of money you think is reasonable for the item. Plus, you can accept more offers, which makes buyers happy too!

Packaging is extremely important when selling. In order to stay a Poshmark Ambassador, you need to keep your ratings high. I wrap everything in tissue, and send a personalized thank you note to each seller. I also use it as an opportunity to practice my calligraphy, and I write the name of the buyer in large cursive on the front of the envelope. You can find extremely cheap thank you cards at Marshalls or this pack of 50 from Target. I also always make sure to stamp the box with my signature Minty Pink stamp that best friend Pj got me for my birthday this year!

I also always make sure to “share” when there are “parties” happening on Poshmark. Parties are essentially just times of day where there is a section of Poshmark available to only certain styles of types of clothing. Essentially, there are always community events happening on Poshmark and, as a seller, I always make sure to share my items to the “Preppy: J.Crew” party. Buyers who want preppy clothing tend to check out what is shared to this party and it allows me to share the majority of my items to one place because, let’s face it, I mostly own J.Crew! 😉

Buying:

Now, I love all the purchases I’ve made on Poshmark. However, I’m always careful. Poshmark has awesome community guidelines that the majority of sellers follow. However, some people sell, well, pretty bizarre items. However, I love to support the poshers who are selling quality items to their page. For example, last summer, I really wanted another pair of Jack Rogers. However, I had just been to their sample sale in NYC, and bought two colorful pairs. I decided to check out Poshmark to see if they carried the silver pair, and their was a boutique seller selling a pair in my size – box included! I bought them for 60 dollars (Normally, $118….) and never looked back! I also recently purchased the Esme Gal Meets Glam dress for a wedding this summer…and it is literally stunning, I could not be happier with it! So, my advice is to always look for NWT (New With Tags) or NWOT (New Without Tags) if you are truly looking for an item that has zero wear to it.

Plus, just like selling, check out those parties! People share quality items and it’s a great way to find things you didn’t even know you were looking for. I mean, I mostly check out the preppy party, but they even have one as general as “Best in Tops.” You can even adjust the settings so you only see clothing in your own size – win win!
